15And the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in the fifty-second year.16And it happened when all our enemies heard and all the nations that were around us saw, they fell very much in their own eyes, and they knew that this work had been done by our God.17Also in those days the nobles of Judah were multiplying their letters going to Tobiah and those to Tobiah coming to them.18For many in Judah are masters of an oath to him, for he is a bridegroom to Shecaniah son of Arah, and Johanan his son took the daughter of Meshullam son of Berechiah.19Also they were telling his good things before me, and his words they were bringing out to him in letters; Tobiah sent to make me afraid.

Chapter 7
1And it was when the wall was built, and I stationed the doors, and the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed.2And I commanded Hanani my brother and Hananiah the commander of the citadel over Jerusalem, for he was a man of truth and feared God above many.3And he said to them, "The gates of Jerusalem shall not be opened until the heat of the sun, and while they are standing by they will shut the doors and fasten them, and appoint watches for the inhabitants of Jerusalem—each man in his watch and each man opposite his house."
